"The Archeology of the Frivolous"*
AoF ANNOUNCEMENT...As of 12 October 1999, this site will no longer be updated nor upgraded. The site will remain online until 31 March 2000, when AoF's lease on the Web expires. Apologies to all scholars, particularly those who just (re-)discovered Scritti Politti. Anyone claiming a non-exclusive non-guaranteed inheritance of data collected herein should contact AoF via email at aof@doubt-beat.com. As for why AoF is going offline...
...NEW SCRITTI LP...
'Anomie & Bonhomie'

in most countries, check 99 Artifacts Catalog for details
The focus of this archeological society is the musicropolis called Scritti Politti. . .
The scholarship here occassionally veers towards idiosyncratic meta-musical speculations; for straightforward information on Scritti Politti check other web sites listed in the fansites section or go with the official line: Official Scritti Politti Website.
Gossip-mongers can go straight to the Speculation Forum for freshly dugged up and mostly unconfirmed rumours about Scritti and its past and present citizens or chat to one another at the Discussion Forum
As for cruising the rest of this site, dazed scholars can go straight down to the 3 less oblique navagational options--site index, map, & search. For the impatient member scholars, there is the AoF News Bulletin which provides a listing of latest additions to AoF so you can skip the rest of the site which you'd know like the back of your palm (what's there to know really?), right?
On to an explanation of the most convoluted (but AoF prefer to think of it as being metaphorically rich) site organization ever then...
The schematic diagram to your right represents a cross section of the archeological dig and the specimens found. To date four layers representing four phases of this civilization have been found.
To navigate this site, click on items in the site diagram to your right. Alternately you can use the text-based Taliesin Site Key/Table of Contents to find the page you need. KEEP IN MIND, currently the site is not optimized for frameless-graphical or text-based browsers. Some pages will not make much sense if you are using these browsers; but you are still welcome to get a glimpse and see if it's worthwhile nagging AoF about the text-only version you need!
- The archaeologist
- will take you to a section dealing with the founding Papa Green Gartside. You can also get there by clicking on the portrait of Mr. Gartside on this page.
- The notebook
- in the archaeologist's hand will take you to general information on the band.
- The earth
- of each layer will take you to general information about the respective phases.
- The specimen
- will take you to list and detailed analysis of the specimen.
- The dog
- will take you to methodology used in locating specimen and information.
- The words in the chitchat bubles
- will take you where they say they would.
- The sun/Scritti seal in the sky
- will take you back to this introduction page.
And for the harried and hassled scholars, 3 less oblique AoF cruising options...
